Online applications are invited for the selection of a suitable candidate for a Research Associate (RA) position at IISER Kolkata for a Grant-in-Aid project of Dr. Amitava Das, Professor (as PI) and Prof. Venkataraman Mahalingam (as Co-PI) of Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata.
DRDO-Defence Material funds the project and Stores Research and Development Establishment, Kanpur (Government of India) under the CARS scheme (Ref. no. TR/0569/CARS-136, dated 05-08-2022).
Project Title: “FRET-Based Optical Response and Sensing by Molecular Rotor Components in Soil and Water Samples”
Funding agency: DRDO-Defence Material and Stores Research and Development Establishment, Kanpur (Government of India) under the CARS scheme, Government of India
Principle Investigator: Prof. Amitava Das, Professor, Dept. of Chemical Sciences
Co- Principle Investigator: Prof. Venkataraman Mahalingam Dept. of Chemical Sciences
Essential Qualification: Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry (in the area of host-gust chemistry) from any recognized university/institute with good publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals. Applicants with good academic records and 75% overall marks or CGPA 7.5 (or above) in their M.Sc. examination shall be given preference.
Age limit: Must not be over 32 years as of 1 st December, 2022 which can be relaxed for certain reserved
categories as per the prevailing rules of the Government of India.Remuneration: Rs. 47,000/- (Rupees forty-seven thousand only) per month (consolidated).
Tenure: Project duration: Three years. Initially for a period of 1 (one) year, extendable for a further period subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate.

Interview: Candidates are requested to appear in the online/offline interview through Google Meet on the first/second week January, 2023 organised by Prof. Das and Mahalingam of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, Mohanpur, West Bengal, Pin–741 246. The interview date/time will be shared with the shortlisted candidate in due course. A link will be shared if the interview is arranged online mode.
Terms and Conditions:
i. No TA / DA will be offered.
ii. The appointment of the candidate will be governed by the terms and conditions of the said project of the funding agency.
iii. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
iv. If the number of applicants is large, the selection committee may decide to restrict the number of candidates for the interview to a reasonable limit after considering qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
v. The selected candidate will have to join duty immediately upon receipt of the offer.
vi. The fellowship may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of the tenure if performance is not deemed satisfactory.
