The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology IITM is an autonomous research organization fully funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. It is a premier Institute of National and International repute, devoted to research in various aspects of Atmospheric Sciences, emphasizing Tropical Meteorology, particularly on Climate Change and the Indian Monsoon.
Job Title: Scientist – ‘C’

Salary: Pay Level 11 (Rs. 67700-208700)
Eligbility Criteria:
Master’s degree in Chemistry or its equivalent with at least 60% marks from a recognized University/Institute.
Essential Experience:
03 years experience in teaching (at graduate or post-graduate level), research and development, survey, administration, planning, supervision or training etc. in the specified field.
Desirable Qualification:
Doctorate in the relevant branch of Science related to Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Meteorology or equivalent from a recognized University.
Desirable Experience:
Experience in policy-making, planning or management etc. related to a specified field.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
: Through Interview.Upper Age Limit: (as on closing date of application)
- 40 years for Scientist C
- Age relaxations are applicable as per the Central Government rules (for 5 years for candidates belonging to SC / ST category, 3 years for candidates belonging to OBC category).
- Age relaxation for Physically Handicapped and Ex-Serviceman are applicable as per the Central Government Rules.
- There is no age limit for IITM and Government employees.

- The place of posting is at Pune with transfer liability to any part of India.
- Age relaxations are applicable as per the Central Government rules.
- Mere possession of required qualifications will not entitle the candidates to be called for an interview. If the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the selection Board to interview all those candidates. The Institute may shortlist the candidates to a reasonable limit based on the essential and desirable qualifications/record of academic performance / relevant experience for the post or any other benchmarks as decided by a committee constituted to screen the applications.
- Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous organizations should apply through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application along with the enclosures, which should reach on or before the prescribed last date. If the application is not routed through proper channel, the candidate must produce the requisite “No Objection Certificate” from their employer at the time of the interview.
- Candidates serving in Govt./ Semi-Govt./Autonomous organization are required to enclose attested photocopies of the APAR of the last 5 years along with their application.
- The candidates should arrange two letters of reference to be sent directly to the undersigned from Gazetted Officers familiar with the candidate’s work.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview For SC/ST candidates admissible TA/DA shall be considered as per Government of India orders.
- Experience and Desirable qualifications can be relaxed at the discretion of the Director in case of exceptionally good candidates.
- Experience shall mean the experience in the relevant field acquired from a Government/SemiGovt./Autonomous Organization after obtaining the minimum educational qualification asked for in the said category.
- No interim enquiries / correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate from being called for interview
- Candidates must produce all original documents as proof of details furnished in the application at the time of interview for verification and the same will be returned after verification. Any discrepancies found in the certificate will attract the disqualification of applications. Non production of the original certificates at the time joining will also make the candidate disqualified. Experience claim should be supported by valid documentation.
- Applicants are advised to enter correct /valid data in respect of various information as provided in the application form. Incorrect details, if entered by any applicant will result in summarily rejection of the applicant at any stage of recruitment.
