Job Title: Hair Care Sr. Product Designer, South Asia BU
Location: Mumbai HURC
Eligbility Criteria:
MSc (Organic Chemistry / Pharmaceutical), M Pharm (Pharmaceutics/Pharmacognosy), M. Tech chemical /Cosmetic
Experience (Profile and Years)
- 3-5+ years’ experience in GDC/CDC.
- A well-established record of accomplishment of delivery.
- A good understanding of the Hair Care category will be a plus.
- Well-developed networking and cross-functional team management.

Key Role & Responsibility
Develop formulations, prototypes, and mixes as desired by the project & business teams.
Understanding of natural, herbal & ayurvedic active ingredients.
- Working closely with ayurvedic experts, understanding the need gaps, and pain points and integrate the relevant points in product design.
- Provide support in developing the understanding of the technologies that will help meet the Indulekha brand ambitions. Understanding competitor formulation strategy and develop insights to derive competitive advantages.
- Developing robust product specifications for implementation.
- Ensure compliance to Internal Unilever protocols, External regulatory environment while developing formulation with respect to commitment to safety, environment, claim support, specification management etc.
- Ensure compliance to product, pack, stability study protocols and reports
Ensure Process Validation Protocol & Reports
Work with the Processing and Supply Chain teams, develop manufacturing processes to scale the product manufacture from lab to pilot to main plant, estimate the CAPEX (Capital Expenditure)
Key Interfaces
- Global and regional contacts: TPLs (TECHNICAL PROJECT LEADER), Fragrance managers, Supply Chain, Procurement, S&T team,
- Lateral contacts: Supplier partners such as ayurvedic & herbal suppliers, Essential oil & fragrance suppliers, and other technology providers.
Skills/competencies:
- Thorough understanding on pre-formulations, prototyping and product development.
- Strong technical and hands-on experience in hair and /or skin care categories and expect to think and innovate disruptive ideas for the brand.
- In-depth understanding of the herb processing, process of Designing and Deploying differentiated products on time in full.
- Strong technical and scientific approach to product design and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of regulatory & legal frameworks related to hair care products would be valuable
- Experience in digital tools & relevant search engines for R&D is desirable
- Excellent presentation & communication skill
- Identification of risks and development of mitigation plans.
- Ability to work and manage multiple stakeholders.
