  • Chemical Engineering degree is preferred but will consider other applicable engineering degrees and experience
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience supporting various refinery/chemical processes.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Unit process engineer experience preferred
  • Mass Balance experience preferred

  • Modelling & Real-Time Optimization (PACO job competence): Knowledge or Process

Responsibilities for the PHEA Basic Data Coordinator role:

  • Member of the site Mass Loss Control Team (MLCT)
  • Performs daily execution of the integrated site mass balance (and future energy balance)
  • on the DataRec/ROMEO platform and subsequent download of reconciled data to the PI historian
  • As errors in measurement are discovered via the daily mass balancing process, root causes are investigated and, once determined, these are escalated for action to the appropriate parties, and impacts are evaluated and communicated to the measurement loss control team (MLCT).
  • Collaborates with Operations Support Process Engineers (OSEs), E&S personnel, unit Control System Engineers (CSEs), and corporate SMEs to maintain the model and keep balances within tolerances
  • Leads or assists in evaluation of complex technical issues or opportunities dealing with site mass balance and unit flows, often with multiple disciplines engaged. Assists as appropriate in problem definition and ensuring solutions that arise in site mass balance.
  • Works with Process Engineering and corporate SMEs to reconcile mass balance and stream property gaps between Non-Linear Process Models and plant. This also includes running of the DataRec model to support process unit test runs and model tuning
  • Translates legacy mass balance data and tools from Process Engineering and others to the DataRec tool and incorporates legacy knowledge into the site mass balance work process
    Works with CTM engineer on mass balance troubleshooting and custody transfer meters. Serves as technical advisor to Finance to assist with fence line mass balance troubleshooting
  • Works with unit CSEs to address and correct unit flow meter issues
  • Works with the Finance department Hydrocarbon Mass Balance (HMB) personnel to provide data and understand site mass balance discrepancies
  • Works with the HMB and FINOPS personnel to assure that data used for HMB is accurate
    Supports reporting of EII and GHG emissions performance.

Responsibilities for the Yield Analyst role:

  • Reviewing daily imbalances in MAB and investigating out-of-tolerance imbalances to the resolution of their root causes; this task meets the intent of the “shall” statement in section 1.4.1 of the AMS PHEA standard.
  • Run unreconciled and unadjusted material balance/ movement monitoring report by site-wide, subsystems, tank level
  • Discuss and identify actions to resolve specific missing movements daily.
  • Identify and resolve losses at tank level, subsystem levels, site wide
  • Provide 2pt reconciliation for marine movements, analyzing and reconciling the quantity differences (gains/losses) resulting from marine custody transfer movement, then recording BOL quantities in the accounting system GSAP.
  • Keeping a log of any errors identified in the TIS & OMM data and reporting KPI’s on these errors to the MLCT monthly, as a way to evaluate the health of Operations’ procedures in those tools; Monitor and evaluate trends of missing movements over time
  • and identify corrective action as required at a minimum monthly
  • Documenting resolution of imbalances.
