Pay Scale Level – 10 (Rs.56,100 – 1,77,500/-) in Pay Matrix as per CCS (R.P.) Rules, 2016 (Pre-revised pay scale PB – 3 Rs.15,600-39,100/- with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400/-) (Total emoluments excluding T.A. & HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs.56,100/- p.m. plus DA as applicable)

Age Not exceeding 35 years for general category candidates as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 38 years for other Backwards class candidates as on normal closing date in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/UT Government servants upto five years in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government or orders from time to time. Eligibility Criteria:

Master’s Degree in Chemistry / *AIC by examination / Biochemistry / Forensic Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level from a recognized University.

*Note- 1 The candidates who were enrolled for AIC by examination (Associate Institute of Chemist (India)) upto 31.05.2013 are only eligible for consideration to the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) for Direct Recruitment and the candidates who have enrolled on or after 01.06.2013 for AIC by examination (Associate Institute of Chemist (India)) are not eligible for consideration to the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) (Direct Recruitment).

Note-2 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Experience:

Three years experience of in analytical methods and research therein in the field of Chemistry in any Central Government or State Government organization or recognized research institute or Forensic Science Laboratory under the Central or State Government.

Desirable Experience of working in a Forensic Science Laboratory.

Duties Crime Scene Management, Crime Case Examination, bestow expert testimony/defacto in the courts of law on subject matter under the provision of Cr.P.C. and Indian Evidence Act/Information Technology Act, R&D activities on Forensic Activities and imparting training in their respective field of forensic specialization to the trainees from different investigating agencies / forensic science labs and other organizations.

Probation ONE YEAR

Headquarters is at New Delhi with Laboratories at Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Kamrup (Assam) & Pune. In connection with performing his/her duties, the officer may be required to serve in any part of India.

Other Details General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is permanent.

Any Other Conditions

1. Leprosy Cured persons are suitable for the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) subject to the condition that their upper limbs are functioning normally.

2. Acid attack victims are suitable for the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) provided that their vision and hearing have not been impaired.
