Job Title: Senior Process Automation Engineer

Primary location Chennai (IND), India

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor / Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Controls Engineering or equivalent
• At least 4 years of experience in process automation is required
• Strong foundation and skills in all aspects of Chemical Process Control
• Knowledge of global process automation and process safety standards, (ISA-S95, S88, and IEC 61511)
• Domestic and international travel may be required.
• Must be willing to work on projects at different geographies/locations role.

Critical Success Factors:

• The individual must be able to work with minimal supervision and be self-directed.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously execute several smaller projects or participate in teams of process automation engineers on a large global capital project are required.
• This job requires excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong technical background.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively sell ideas to all job levels is required.

Dow has an opportunity for a Senior Process Automation Engineer at Central Engineering, Chennai.

• The Senior Process Automation Engineer acts as a technical and process control lead for capital and improvement projects. These projects include implementing Dow’s most effective process automation technologies, incremental process technology improvements, and solutions new to Dow’s businesses with safety as the top priority. The role requires close cooperation with other disciplines like R&D, Project ManReps (Manufacturing Representatives), PA team, and the operational plants.
• The role would require the individual to work with a global team(s) responsible for the implementation of process control solutions to capture improvement opportunities.
• The individual is expected to be fully qualified and proficient in the application of chemical process control fundamentals. Hands-on experience in Emerson DeltaV or Siemens PCS7 will be an added advantage.
• He/she should be able to design and implement process control and process safety strategies for both continuous and batch processes, which entails programming of control applications on Siemens PCS7 with minimal training.
• He/she conduct root cause investigations of unforeseen events and ensures effective implementation of the necessary measures to prevent repeated failures.
• There would be a need to write process simulation applications in order to verify the functionality of the control program and for training plant operators.
• It would be required to participate in plant commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops.
• It would be required to follow project improvement goals, plan, track and collaborate with the implementation team to achieve those goals.
