Key Skills and Competencies

  • A Ph.D. in chemistry, or engineering comprising substantial aspects of cheminformatics, molecular simulation, and/or data modeling, together with the development and application of data-driven chemistry skills. Alternatively, you may have
  • MSc. in Chemistry /M. Tech. in engineering with 4-6 years of work experience in the application of modeling/ simulations or cheminformatics skills.
  • A passion for applying digital, computing, analytical and data-driven approaches to accelerate technology innovation and able to demonstrate the above skills applied to industrial challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • A self-starter, you will have the passion and drive to proactively network internally and externally to both refine the challenges and to bring the latest thinking into Unilever

Main Accountabilities

  • To work with multidisciplinary Science and Technology Leaders and research scientists to design and select new materials technologies and drive “in silico first” approaches onto the critical path of product innovation processes
  • To develop and apply artificial intelligence, materials informatics, materials simulation, and statistical methods for library definition, experimental design, structure/composition-function modeling, optimization and data mining.
  • To identify the relevant materials informatics leaders in the external world, developing appropriate external networks and collaborators to advance internal skillsets and deliver complex projects
  • To train and support the team’s personal utilization of appropriate materials informatics and data-driven tools and techniques

The Role

The role is based in Bangalore, India working with our global materials innovation team. The main purpose of the role is to bring leading-edge digital methods, such as materials modeling, simulations, and cheminformatics, to the materials innovation process and establish thought leadership in an “in silico first” approach to materials and process design. This involves novel ingredients assembled into novel formulations for existing and/or novel formats spanning most aspects of cleaning and hygiene in the home. This will not just be you doing this, but leading and helping your teammates assimilate and adopt these methods into their own ways of working.
