Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Certifications in PHA (Process Hazard Analysis)
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an additional Diploma / Degree / Master’s Degree in Process Safety / Industrial Safety.

Experience and other skills:

  • 3-5 years experience working in Chemical, Refineries, Engineering companies(EPC), Petrochemical or R&D Environment, etc.
  • More than 3 years’ experience in HS&E field in which 50% of work must be for Process Safety Management & Industrial Hygiene Specialist in a chemical or Petrochemical or R&D Environment.
  • Sound understanding of the engineering principles of underlying process plant designs and operation, P&I diagrams.
  • Working experience in multi-national company would be preferred.
  • Experience developing HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including group presentation, facilitation, and training skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to enforce, and deliver a successful safety program Demonstrated ability to work with teams.
  • Familiar with HS&E legal requirements related to Process Safety.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate Industrial Hygiene Specialist Process Hazard reviews, Design Safety reviews and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews of lab, pilot plants and other experimental development activities.
  • Lead Management of Change program. Review changes to lab, pilot plant and facilities activities for impact on process safety. Support operational Teams in application of PSM elements.
  • Work with Pilot Plant Engineering Design and Construction group to help develop and implement engineering design standards related to process safety systems.
  • Understand Asset Integrity and Reliability program and process safety requirements.
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance in the application of process safety management and safety case development consistent with corporate direction and requirements.
  • Perform audits of various elements of process safety for operating facilities and capital projects.
  • Develop and deliver various aspects of process safety, including Process Hazard Analysis facilitation, Incident Investigation, Managing Safe Work, and Technical Aspects of Process Safety.
  • Manage the process safety reporting process and coordinate the input of PS performance into the monthly management review meeting.
  • Integrate, monitor, and support Health, Safety programs to ensure compliance with the applicable guidelines, procedures, and regulations
  • To develop need-based Safety Training programs, Daily Safety Inspection and Safety Induction for Engineers, supervisors & others.
  • Lead and participate in investigations of process-related incidents, using RCA tools like 5 why, Fish Bone, FMEA- Failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Conduct training on process safety-related topics; develop and update training materials as needed.
  • Generate periodic reports on the status of various process safety-related activities; follow-up with management to help assure timely completion of activities
  • Collaborate and work together with the site and global HSE team to help share best practices across the site.
  • Drive increased awareness of HS&E processes and practices to leadership, operations, and administrative groups.
