Job Title: Junior Research Fellow

Job Id: 221

Department: Chemistry

Job Type: Contract

No. of Positions: 1

Project synopsis

The aim of the project is to investigate molecular-level properties of supported ionic liquid membranes by carrying out photoinduced dynamics of solute probes using time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.

The major objectives are:

Gaining a molecular-level understanding of supported ionic liquid membranes by carrying out elementary photoinduced charge transfer reactions and Förster resonance energy transfer of some solutes using time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.

Exploring the influence of different local regions and local properties of supported ionic liquid membranes on the dynamics of photoinduced charge transfer processes and Förster resonance energy transfer by carrying out excitation wavelength-dependent fluorescence studies.

Investigating how some of the properties of ionic liquid, such as static and dynamic heterogeneity, and polarity are affected

in mesoscopic-confined environments of various supported ionic liquid membranes in comparison to bulk phase.

Exploring the role of dynamic solvent effect and long-range interaction of confined ionic liquids on excited-state charge transfer and proton transfer in supported ionic liquid membranes.

Nature of work

Study of photoinduced electron transfer, proton transfer and electronic energy transfer dynamics in the supported ionic liquid membrane using picosecond and femtosecond resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Influences of local properties of membranes on the kinetics of various rate processes. Investigation of interactions and structural dynamics of ionic liquids in various confined environments.
