under heading “Vacancies”. Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous national institute under the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). This futuristic innovation institute of its own kind in the country has a mission of advancing knowledge, leads and emerging technologies/processes relevant to the agri-food sector towards applications and products.
(A) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS (WITH OWN FELLOWSHIP)
Job Title: Junior Research Fellow (Chemical / Nano / Material Science) – Two Positions
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – As per fellowship awarding agency.
Qualifications:
(i) Master’s Degree in Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies
Job Title: Junior Research Fellow (Chemical Sciences) – Two Positions
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – As per fellowship awarding agency.
Qualifications:
(i) M.Sc in Chemistry (General/Organic/Inorganic/Physical/Others) from a recognized University/Institute OR M.E./M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies.
Job Title: Junior Research
Fellow (Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology) – Three PositionsAge limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – As per fellowship awarding agency.
Qualifications:
(i) M.Sc Chemistry from a recognized University/Institute OR
B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech Chemical Engg/ Chemical Technology from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies.

(B) FELLOWSHIPS FUNDED BY CIAB FOR INTERNAL R&D PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES
Job Title: Research Associate-I (Chemical Engineering) – One position
Age limit – 35 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 47,000/- per month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available)
Tenure: One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs and financial provisions.
Qualifications: Ph.D# in Chemical Engg.,/Biochemical Engg.,/Biotechnology/ Food Technology from a recognized University/Institute having at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal M.E./M.Tech. in Chemical Engg.,/Biochemical Engg with three years’ experience in industry/research/teaching and having at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desired Experience – Biomass Valorisation/Agro-Bioprocessing / Process Engineering.

(C) FELLOWSHIPS UNDER EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS AT CIAB, MOHALI
Job Title: Junior Research Fellow (Chemistry) – One position
Project Title – “Transformation of agro residue-rice straw-into downstream dicarboxylic acids-precursor for bioplastics-with nanoparticle encapsulated zeolites”.
Funded By – Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under ECRA scheme of DST (Govt. of India).
Principal Investigator – Dr. S. Saravanamurugan, Scientist-E (Catalysis Chemistry)
Duration of the project – Upto 02-03-2021
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + HRA as per DST norms
Qualifications –
(i) M.Sc. in Chemistry (General / Organic / Inorganic / Physical) from a recognized University / Institute or M.E. / M. Tech. (Chemical Engineering) from a recognized University / Institute and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
Tenure – Upto duration of the project i.e. 02-03-2021 or cessation of operation and/or funding of the project by the project funding agency, whichever is earlier.
Job Title: Junior Research Fellow – One position
Project Title – “Development of water-soluble curcuminoids powder for use as a health additive”.
Funded By – Punjab State Biotech Corporation, Mohali.
Principal Investigator – Dr. Bhuwan Bhushan Mishra, Scientist-C
Duration of the project – Six months
Age limit – 28 Years
Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- + HRA as per DST norms
Qualifications –
(i) M.Sc. in Chemistry/Food Science from a recognized University / Institute OR M. Tech. in
Food Technology and
(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified
Application Procedure
The interested candidates may send their filled-in application form (available on institute’s website) along with self-attested photocopies of relevant education, experience, caste (if applicable) certificates by e-mail only to: [email protected] latest by 15th September 2020. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview through video-conferencing mode. Please note that no hard copy of the application is required at this stage.
Process of Engagement
The applications received will be screened by a committee for shortlisting the candidates for interview. The eligible applicants would be interviewed by a duly constituted committee through video-conferencing mode. The committee would recommend the candidates, if found suitable, for consideration of the competent authority for engagement on purely on Fellowship/Stipendiary basis. Provisions of registration for PhD exist at Universities/Institutes having MoU with CIAB subject to scholar’s tangible performance, promise, academic suitability, etc.
