Job Title: R & D Associate /Senior R&D Associate

Location: Mumbai

Required –

• Masters degree in chemistry, chemical engineering Pharmacy or equivalent
  Technical expertise in Chemistry with a proven track record.
• 3-5 years experience in personal care product development, Exposure to oral care formulations preferred.
• Well versed with the R&D functional excellence requirements for a design role.
• Well versed with the new product development process and its requirements.
• Well versed with stability protocols, formulation science and technology development.
• Should be familiar with basic analytical tests and instrumentation.
• Should have experience of using formulation assessment tools like viscometer, rheometer, pH meter etc.
• Should be familiar with GLP and GMP requirements.
• Should be familiar with consumer testing of new products and consumer insighting.
• Should be familiar with claim support process.
• Should be familiar with basic regulatory requirements for Personal care products including Oral care.
• Ability to work in teams, good communication skills, good presentation skill.

Desired –

Experience in statistics, clinical and claim support will be added advantage.

The position is a part of the Global design team: Smile essentials (Signal/Pepsodent brand), based out of Mumbai. Signal/Pepsodent is the largest Unilever Oral Care brand. The team supporting this brand is also responsible for the development of the zero-cavity consumer benefit platform. The main purpose of the job is to support the OTIF delivery of the Innovation funnel for the Zero cavity platform globally, through design of new formulation, with particular attention to product stability, efficacy, formulation interaction with packaging, sensorial assessment, claims and to help create a pipeline of innovative technologies for the Zero cavity consumer benefit platform.

Main Accountabilities

• Design of formulations,
• Production and scale up of products in pilot plant with the purpose of developing a formulation
• Design of stability testing and monitoring, interfacing with analytical laboratory, execution of basic analytical tests
• Claim and claim support studies.
• Management of all interfaces (Brand development, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality) in cooperation with the Technical project Leader.
• Creation of specification of RMs and finished products.
• Liaise with suppliers for identification and development of new RMs/Technologies.
• Should well versed with competition tracking, patents, IP, claims and claim support requirements.
