Qualifications
- Technical/Engineering degree (BSc/B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech) in eg chemistry
- Prefer 3+ years of experience of a range of patent search and analysis projects, eg prior art searches, patent landscape analyses, patent mining, infringement analyses, freedom to operate searches, preferably with international companies or clients.
- Thorough knowledge of patent information sources, patent classification systems, and global patent systems generally and familiarity with various patent searching databases
- Good English language communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately under time pressure.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, in particular, MS Excel.
Introduction to role
The Patent Analysts in HP’s Global Legal Affairs organization provide a wide range of patent information and analysis services to HP’s patent attorneys and IP licensing professionals throughout the world. This role will primarily support the 3D Materials and Life Sciences R&D efforts in HP.
Responsibilities
- Conduct database and web searches for patentability, validity, landscaping, portfolio analysis, freedom-to-operate, infringement mapping and patent evaluation.
- Use technical background and experience to review search results, analyze patent and non-patent publications, formulate conclusions and generate reports.
- Support patent attorneys and licensing professionals outside India by defining complex and effective search strategies and to research, analyze and clearly present key observations using analytics and presentation tools.
- Conduct studies to determine technology field trends, deliver competitive intelligence and determine research and licensing opportunities.
- Engage in special information analysis projects.
