Mohali’s Drug inspector, as well as a pharma company’s MD, and two others were arrested on charges of illegal gratification by The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to reports, Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) based Kwality Pharmaceuticals’ MD Ramesh Arora, director Ajay Arora, pharmacist Nirmal Singh, and Karunakar Tiwari a middleman gave Rs 1 lakh bribe to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) drug inspector Ankur Bansal for clearing the samples of an injection produced by the company.
The CBI asked for a five days’ custodial remand of the accused, as they are hiding many things relating to the money transaction. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that the nexus between the Public
servant as well as Private institutes needs to be exposed, and the accused persons need to be confronted in custody. They further said that their sustained judicial custody of the accused was required as they were not disclosing the essential details as well as the critical money transaction involved between them. The court awarded custody of the accused to the CBI till August 17.Two teams of CBI had chased accused drug inspector in Amritsar and arrested him after Karunakar Tiwari settled the deal between him and Nirmal Singh, the delivery person.
The Mohali Drug inspector was arrested while he was driving his car and recovered a brown box containing Rs 2,000 denomination currency which was estimated to be Rs 1 lakh from the car’s dashboard. Nirmal Singh delivered the brown box.
