Position 1

Job Title: Engineers/Officer( Graduate Engineers)

Eligibility: Chemical Engineering (including Petrochemicals/Polymer/Plastic Engineering but excluding Rubber/Oil/Paint Technology/ Surfactant Technology/Ceramics Engineering
etc) Corresponding GATE- 2019 Code: CH For both Engineers/ Officers and GAE

Age Limit: Maximum 26 years as on 30th June 2019 for General category candidates. Age
relaxation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PWBD candidates will be applicable against reserved posts as per the Presidential Directives.

Job Description:

Candidates selected as Officers/ Engineers may be posted in one of the divisions
of Indian Oil – Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines, and Business Development or in
Corporate functions, eg., Information Systems, Optimization or in
Subsidiary/Joint Venture companies.

  • In Refineries Division, based on qualification, may be posted in engineering services, process, production, projects, power plant, maintenance, inspection
    or in any other discipline as per organization requirement
  • In the Marketing Division, may be posted in Aviation Services, Engineering, Operations, LPG, Lubes, Maintenance & Inspection, Sales and Marketing,
    Technical Services or in any other discipline as per organization requirement
  •  In Pipelines Division, may be posted in operations and maintenance, construction, projects or in any other discipline as per organization
    requirement
  • In Business Development, may be posted in petrochemicals & polymer projects, operations, sales/marketing, gas, renewable energy & sustainable development or in any other discipline as per organization requirement

Pay Scale: Rs. 60,000/-per month.

Position 2

Job Title: Post Graduate Engineers

No.of posts: 08

Eligibility:

  • Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering including Chemical Technology Engineering And
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering including
    Chemical Technology Engineering Corresponding GATE 2019 Code: CH

Age Limit: Maximum 28 years as on 30th June 2019 for General category candidates. Age
relaxation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwBD candidates will be applicable against reserved posts as per the Presidential Directives.

Pay Scale: Rs. 60,000/-per month.

Position 3

Job Title: Assistant Officers in Quality Control

Eligibility: Candidates having M.Sc in Chemistry (full-time regular course only) will be
considered for recruitment as Assistant Officer (Quality Control) in Marketing
Division. M.Sc in Chemistry will mean M.Sc or equivalent degree either in Inorganic/ Organic/ Analytical/ Physical/Applied Chemistry. Candidates from other branches of Chemistry viz Bio-Chemistry/ Geo-Chemistry etc. will not be considered as eligible.
Corresponding GATE 2019 Code: CY

Age Limit: Maximum 28 years as on 30th June 2019 for General category candidates. Age
relaxation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwBD candidates will be applicable against reserved posts as per the Presidential Directives.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience (As on 30th June 2019) in a Chemical Testing Laboratory on Testing/R&D/Quality Control

Desirable: Testing of petroleum products (fuel, lube, grease, used lubricants) petrochemicals etc.. Conversant with BIS/ASTM/ISO/ IP specifications and test procedures

Pay Scale: Rs. 50,000/-per month.

Selection Procedure:

  1. The selection methodology for Officers/Engineers/GAEs/Research Officers in R&D Centre
    and Assistant Officers (Quality Control) in Marketing Division will comprise of the
    following:
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineers (GATE) 2019 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines. The Graduate Engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with IndianOil are required to appear in GATE-2019 in the same discipline.
  • Only GATE-2019 score is valid for this recruitment exercise in Indian Oil under this
    advertisement. Score from GATE-2018 or from any previous GATE examination is not valid.
  • On the basis of GATE-2019 score, the candidates will be shortlisted for further selection
    process comprising of:
    a. Group Discussion (GD)/Group Task (GT)
    b. Personal Interview (PI) for assessment of different facets of knowledge, skills etc.
    d. Candidates have to essentially qualify in the GATE-2019 examination. In addition, candidates will have to separately qualify in Group Discussion (GD)/Group Task (GT) and Personal Interview (PI) successfully before being adjudged as suitable for selection.
    e. Final Merit will be prepared based on GATE-2019 score and scores obtained by the candidates in GD/GT and PI taken together. Merit will be prepared discipline-wise.

Service Bond: Selected candidates will have to execute a bond as under to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years from the date of joining the corporation

How to apply: 
Application for all the three positions is a two-stage process:

A) STAGE -1 – On-line registration for GATE- 2019 examination :
i. Candidates are required to apply/register online for GATE-2019 using GATE Online
Application Processing System (GOAPS) by the closing date for submission of
applications for GATE-2019.
ii. GATE-2019 will be an on-line examination and will be held in the month of February,
2019. For detailed information on GATE-2019, interested candidates may log on to
www.gate.iitm.ac.in
iii. GATE-2019 admit cards containing GATE-2019 registration number will be available for printing from GOAPs website from 4th January 2019.

B) STAGE – II – On-line application in Indian Oil with GATE-2019 registration number
after downloading GATE-2019 admit card :
i. After downloading the GATE-2019 admit card and receipt of GATE-2019 registration
number, the candidates may apply to Indian Oil ONLINE. The relevant link will be
made available from 4th January, 2019 on the Indian Oil’s website
www.iocl.com.
ii. Candidates should click on the ONLINE application link, read the instructions
carefully and fill-in the ONLINE application form giving accurate information including
the GATE-2019 registration number.
iii. Candidates must ensure that they fill in the correct GATE-2019 Registration Number
in Indian Oil’s online application form. Please note that only the correct GATE-2019
Registration Number in our application form will enable us to download your GATE2019 score provided by GATE-2019 authorities. (Candidates may note that GATE scores of the candidates are retrieved from the database provided by the GATE authorities through software and in case of any mis-match in GATE Registration Number, the score of the candidate will not be retrieved successfully. IOCL does not carry out any manual intervention to correct any mistake committed in filling-in the GATE registration number while applying on-line in Indian Oil.)
iv) Candidates must enter their name in the same manner as they have entered while
applying to GATE-2019. (For example, if the candidate is entering his name as Ravi
Kumar Singh in the ONLINE GATE application, he must enter Ravi Kumar Singh (exactly same spelling and manner) while applying to Indian Oil ONLINE. He must not enter R K Singh or Ravi K Singh while applying to Indian Oil). The candidates must fill in all the information boxes correctly and ‘tick’ the appropriate box, wherever applicable.
v) Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the
Submit button at the bottom of the page. On submission of the application, the system
will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form.
vi) Candidate should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport
size photograph, put his/ her signature in the space provided and keep it with him/ her
safely for future reference. This print out of application should be kept in safe custody of the candidate. Candidates must not send this printout to any office of Indian Oil.
vii) The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate on the IOCL’s completed
application form should be the same as submitted with GATE-2019 application form and
admit card. If the candidate is called for GD/GT and interview, his/ her identity would be
verified with GATE-2019 admit card and GATE-2019 official score card.
