The Product & Process Science Tea team is one of seven teams within the F&R division. Its purpose is to use scientific knowledge to develop proprietary tea technologies to deliver superior and differentiated products in the market along with Global & Cluster Design team. This is a scientific discipline, requiring expertise in chemistry that would allow modulation of complex chemical and biochemical pathways for modulating taste and flavor in tea. One of the key thrust areas is to understand the molecular basis of taste and flavour and link it to sensorial perception and consumer liking.

Job Title: Senior Research Executive

Eligibility: MSc degree (minimum) in Chemistry (physical, inorganic, organic).

Experience:

  • Enjoys hands-on experimentation, iteration and solving technical problems. A creative, logical and analytical mind to generate innovative solutions to technical problems
  • 1-5 years of product-centric industrial experience in relevant areas such as product chemistry, understanding reaction pathways and identifying means to modulate.
  • Able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams. This is particularly important as success depends upon tight coordination with the project leaders and technical experts across different sites.
  • Need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills.
    Able to communicate chemistry principles to people at all levels of the business, across different functions.

Job Description:

  • Leading experimental chemistry activities related to projects within tea processing and product design, understand and interpret results, make recommendations and build robust methods and insights
  • Work and communicate effectively with different members of the team to deliver against the project milestone timings and identify and manage risks.
  • Leading laboratory execution of experimental plan using the latest techniques in Design of Experiments and rapid screening, as well as expert data management (including the use of electronic notebooks), and laboratory management of equipment, chemicals, and instrumentation. Ensure consistent safe practices and a safe environment throughout.
  • Be an integral part of relevant collaboration with externals and employing emerging new technologies and methodologies in driving the innovation funnel work streams.
  • Maintain a mindset where complexity, resource efficiency, risk-taking, and speed are all embraced and lived by the team.
  • Play an active role in leading and contributing to the Tea Category Strategy
