Job Description:

The candidate will be a team member of Refreshment Discover, Beverages, working on tea processing, to deliver higher sensorials (color / taste / flavour). The responsibility of the position is to drive processing solutions for existing technologies and generate scientific technologies and insights. Planning experiments, executing them with rigor and analysing the information and data with statistical inclination is a key requirement. The candidate will also be expected to carry out literature survey and scoping exercises for developing technologies for the future. The role entails understanding and application of principles of chemical engineering, statistics and processing at lab, pilot and factory scale. Some amount of modelling knowledge is a plus.

JOB SUMMARY (JOB DESCRIPTION)

  • Work in the laboratory to carry out “on the bench” experiments and in pilot plant to demonstrate feasibility of processes.
  • Work with team to develop new processes, identify key unit operations and define process boundaries.
  • Validate hypothesis with systematic and rigorous experimentation and data analysis.
  • Travel to third party and Unilever factories for processing trials. Travel will mostly be within India. Frequency of travel is expected to be 10-15%
  • Interact with cross functional and global team members.
  • Work with team to build capability in the identified areas.
  • Search and apply appropriate literature / patent / competition / supplier searches related to the projects.
  • Report scientific and technical findings in the form of internal research reports. As well as technical presentations to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

KEY REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS)

  • Education – B. E./B. Tech., Chemical engineering, passed with First class in all subjects
  • Background/Experience – Good fundamentals in chemical engineering, good computer skills (Windows), proficient with MS word, excel, power point. Some experience with modelling (MATLAB, ASPEN) is a plus.
  • Soft skills – Team worker, Multi tasking, Good communication and writing skills, good presentation skills, creative, ability to analyse data and provide logical conclusions, willing to step out of comfort zone and learn new skills to get the job done.
  • Experience – 0 to 3 years, preferably in a processing or product oriented industry.
  • Should be willing to travel to third party and Unilever factories. Expected travel is 10-15% of the time.
