Job Title:     Chemist III Senior

Req ID: (E3)-1801093

Job Description:

The office of the CTO is looking for an outstanding polymer chemist to join the Mumbai team to develop new materials for use in the semiconductor industry. A background in organic or polymer chemistry is required. The individual will be working with a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team of chemists and process engineers. Experience in the synthesis of various modern and contemporary polymerization techniques like step-growth, chain growth, ring-opening polymerization (ROP), and free radical polymerization is essential for this position. In particular, experience in the synthesis and characterization of engineering polymers like polyurethanes is preferred. Experience in controlled radical polymerization techniques is preferred, but not required. Experience with the synthesis of small molecules is preferred, but not required. The candidate should have experience with using Schlenk line and other air-free techniques. The individual should have a strong understanding and a hands-on experience with using various characterization tools like FTIR, NMR, GPC, DSC, TGA and DMA to understand the structure-property relationship of the synthesized polymers. Experience in formulation and characterization of thermal and UV-curable coatings is preferred, but not required. In addition, candidate should be highly-motivated and should document/analyze the
data methodically. The candidate should be self-starter and be able to work independently. Candidate should have good communication and presentation skills, and should be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with diverse technical backgrounds. This position requires strong and frequent interaction with materials and process development teams in the USA. The candidate is expected to identify key-problems, provide novel-solutions and reduce them to practice.
Requirements:
Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Chemistry or Materials Science is preferred.  About 5-10 years of experience in the polymer field with proven record of accomplishments evidenced by publications or as patents is necessary.  Fundamental understanding of physical, chemical and mechanical properties of polymeric materials and composites is essential.  Additional experience in polymer synthesis and characterization is essential. Experience with the synthesis of engineering polymers is preferred.  Understanding of the structure-property relationship of various polymers to change formulations and ability to manipulate the polymers to suit the requirements of desired mechanical properties is required.  Candidate should have well versed in polymer characterization. Experience with coatings formulation and characterization is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Synthesis and characterize new polymers for semiconductor applications. Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment is required.  Ensure compliance with EH&S requirements and promote safety in the work environment.
