National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) is an autonomous society under Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and has been functioning as a research Institute in the area of hydrology and water resources in the country since December 1978 in Roorkee City.

Position I

Job Title:    Junior Research Fellow /Senior Research Fellow

Project Title: Impact of Rain water Harvesting on Groundwater Quality in India with Specific Reference to Fluoride and Micropollutants

Salary: Rs. 25,000/- + HRA ( as admissible)

Qualifications: 

Essential OR : Post Graduate Degree in Basic Sciences (Environmental Science/Chemistry/Earth Science/Geology) with NET/GATE Qualification Post Graduate Degree in Professional Courses M.Tech.
(Water Resources/ Hydrology/ Environmental Engineering/ Chemical Engineering/Soil & Water Conservation Engg.)

Nature of Work: This is a India-UK Water Quality Research Project under Newton Bhabha Fund. Work would involve field investigations near Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Laboratory Investigations at NIH Roorkee, data analysis and modeling.

Preference would be given to candidates having exposure to field investigations related to water resources and experience of handlin

g water quality instruments. For SRF: same qualification as in JRF but two years of research experience.

Qualifications: 

  • Essential: Hydrology/Water Resources/Hydraulic Engg. having 3 years of research experience, with at least one research paper in Science Citation indexed (SCI) journal. Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Environmental Science/ Geology with NET qualification or M.E/M. Tech.
    in Environmental Engg./Chemical Engg./
  • Desirable: Person with experiences on water quality geochemical analyses shall be given preferences

  • Essential: Hydraulic Engg. having 3 years of research experience, with at least one research paper in Science Citation indexed (SCI) journal. Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Environmental Science with NET qualification or M.E/M. Tech. in Environmental
    Engg./Chemical Engg./ Hydrology/Water Resources/
