Position I

Job Title:  Junior Research Fellow

No. of Posts:  1

Project Title:  Groundwater Quality Assessment with special reference to Sulphate contamination in Bemetara District of Chhattisgarh State and ameliorative measures

Salary:   Rs. 25,000/- + HRA ( as Admissible)

Nature of Work:  Field investigation in Bemetara district, Chhattisgarh and Laboratory analysis. Nature of Work Preference will be given to candidates having experience of water quality analysis and groundwater quality modelling.

Qualifications:   Essential Post Graduate Degree in basic sciences (Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Geology, Environmental Sciences) OR M.Tech./M.E. in Civil Engineering, Earth Science Engineering with NET/GATE qualification


Position II

Job Title:  Research Associate

No. of Posts:  1

Project Title:  Water Quality Assessment of Southwest Punjab Emphasizing Carcinogenic Contaminants and their Possible Remedial Measures

Salary:  Rs. 36,000/- + HRA ( as Admissible)

Nature of Work:  Field investigation in Bemetara district, Chhattisgarh and Laboratory analysis. Nature of Work Preference will be given to candidates having experience of water quality analysis and groundwater quality modelling.

Qualifications:  Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Environmental
Sciences with NET qualification or M.E./M. Tech. having 3 years of research experience, with at least one research paper in Science Citation indexed (SCI) journal.

General Terms and Conditions:  

1. Professionals with requisite qualifications and experience as prescribed would be eligible for being engaged as
Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow(JRF). However, if suitable NET/GATE
qualified candidates are not found, the candidates without these qualifications may be considered but as per the
rates mentioned above.
General conditions:
2. Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) would be engaged for a fixed period for
providing high quality services to the Institute or for attending to specific and time-bound jobs.
3. The appointment of Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) would be on Fulltime
basis and they would not be permitted to take up any other assignment during the period of Consultancy with
the NIH.
4. The appointment of Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) is purely temporary
on co-terminus basis and do not entitle the appointee to any claim implicit or explicit or any NIH post. The
appointment can be cancelled at any time by the Institute without assigning any reason.
5. The initial term of appointment and subsequent extension (s) if any, shall be decided on case to case basis depending
upon the specific job and the time frame for its completion.
6. The Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) shall not be entitled to any
allowance such as Dearness Allowance, Residential Telephone, Transport facility, Personal Staff etc.
7. The Research Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) may be provided with the transit
accommodation as per prevailing rules of the Institute. The applicable licence fee shall be charged and the Research
Scientist/Research Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) shall vacate the accommodation on the
termination or expiry of the tenure, whichever is earlier.
8. No TA/DA shall be admissible for joining the appointment on contractual basis. Research Scientist/Research
Associate (RA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) shall be allowed TA/DA for their travel inside the country in
connection with the official work.
9. The selection of candidates will be made through Walk-in-Interview. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidate for
attending the interview.
10. Candidates can directly attend the walk-in-interview on the prescribed date, time at NIH along with complete
bio-data, passport size photograph and original proof of qualification and experience. They must also bring with
them self-attested copies of their certificates. Candidate may report in NIH in 0:30 hours before Interview time.
After starting of Interview, admission in the same will not be allowed.
11. Bio-data Format: Advt. No., Post applied for, Sub-project/Sub-projects in which the candidate intends to work in
the order of preference of Sub-project title, Name of candidate, Father’s name, Date of birth, Age,
Nationality, Marital status, Category (SC/ST/OBC/PH/Gen), Address for communication, Telephone No.,
Details of qualifications (High School onwards giving exam passed, year of passing, Name of Board/
University, Subjects, division with percentage of marks, Working experience {Mentioning S. No.,
Organisation/Institute, Period (from . . . to), Nature of work and remarks}…., Knowledge of software, any
other additional information, List of enclosures and Signature of Candidate with date.
12. Candidate may report in N.I.H. half an hour before Interview. After starting of Interview, admission in the same
will not be allowed.
13. For detailed information on the service conditions of the research personnel employed in R & D program of
Central Govt. Departments/Agencies, the candidates can refer to Office Memorandum no. SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated
October 21, 2014 of the DST, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
14. Maximum Age below 40 years for Research Scientist and 35 years for Research Associate/Junior
Research Fellow, on the date of interview. Age relaxation of SC/ST/OBC as per Govt. of India rules.
Note: Candidates before appearing for the Walk-in-Interview shall ensure that they are eligible (in the required field) for
the position they intend to apply.
