CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), located in Palampur, is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The institute is dedicated to research and development focused on the sustainable utilization of Himalayan bioresources. Its research areas include biotechnology, bioinformatics, agriculture, medicinal and aromatic plants, food technology, and microbial resources. Position: Project Associate PAT-II
Maximum Age: 35 Years as on 30 September 2026
Stipend Per Month:
- Rs. 35,000/- + 10% HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET including lectureship/assistant professorship or GATE, or those who have qualified national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent.
- Rs. 28,000/- + 10% HRA for others who do not fall under the above category.
Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Pharmacy / B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical / Industrial Engineering from a recognized university, or M.E. / M.Tech. in Chemical / Industrial Engineering with 2 years of research experience in R&D in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations.
Desirable Qualification: Operating & working knowledge of analytical equipment such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, etc., along with associated software.
Tenure of the project: Upto 31 March 2028

The number of positions advertised for the CSIR-IHBT Project Associate role may vary based on the suitability of candidates and the access needs of the candidates in the project. CSIR-IHBT Project Associate: General Instructions

- Relaxation in the age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD/Women and OBC categories shall be 5 years and 3 years respectively, as per Government of India instructions.
- Engagement under these positions shall be temporary and co-terminus with the project tenure or 6 years, whichever is earlier.
- The performance of the Project Staff will be reviewed every six months, and those not meeting the standards may be terminated.
- Information provided by the candidate in the application form will be verified from original documents.
- Incomplete applications, late applications, and applications for multiple posts in a single application form will not be accepted.
- All applicants must fulfill all the essential requirements of the positions as well as other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as of the last date of submission of the application.
- It is compulsory for all applicants to fill up all columns of the application form carefully before submission.
- Candidates are requested to convert CGPA/SGPA/OGPA grades into percentages based on their University/Institute’s prescribed formula.
