IIRS Internship 2026: Eligibility & Duration
- The internship opportunity shall be extended for UG/ PG/ PhD students (a Citizen of India) pursuing from a recognized University/ Institution (India/Abroad) in the disciplines of Science/Technology or have completed within six months of the application.
- The duration of the Internship work will be a minimum period of 45 days.
- The student should possess an aggregate of a minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10.
Student Project Trainee Scheme:
- Under the IIRS project trainee scheme, opportunity shall be extended for the following category of students, in offline mode, with prescribed educational eligibility as stated below:
Eligibility Criteria: – Duration
- Engineering (BE/ BTech) – Should have completed 6th semester – Minimum 45 days
- ME/ MTech – Should have completed 1st semester – Minimum 120 days
- BSc/ Diploma – Only final-year students – Minimum 45 days
- MSc – The student should have completed 1st semester – Minimum 120 days
- PhD – Scholars should have completed coursework – Minimum 30 months
All the students wanting to pursue academic project work in DoS/ISRO shall possess an aggregate of Min. 60% or CGPA 6.32 on a scale of 10.
General Information:
- Only Indian nationals are eligible for internship/summer training/project/research work.
- Students will be allowed depending on the available seats as well as willingness/ consent of IIRS faculty to guide/supervise the student, based upon educational qualifications, subjects, academic record & duration of project and current involvement of IIRS Faculty.
- The student should possess an aggregate of a minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10 in the disciplines of Science/Technology.
- Extension of the Internship period will not be entertained.
- Confirmation letter/ Selection intimation will be sent through email and also will be available online under login of the students in IIRS admission portal.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC)/Recommendation from college/Institute and academic documents needs to be uploaded along with online application.
- Students not selected will not be informed.
- The minimum duration of internship/summer training/project/research work at IIRS is 45 days and the maximum duration is one year.
- Students should bring 03 passport-size color photographs, original copies of documents, valid photo ID proof issued by Govt. of India and ID card issued by Univ./Inst./College.
- Application may be submitted twice in a year. Last dates for application submission are 31st Oct & 31st March of every calendar year.
- Only online applications will be accepted. No application through email or by post will be accepted.
Other Information:
- The internship/project work will be allotted based on the availability of expertise, projects, facilities, and suitability of the student’s course to the work carried out at the respective center/unit.
- All applications received will be scrutinized by the respective Centre/ Unit as per the norms.
- The Project Trainees/Interns shall not be eligible for any stipend/remuneration/financial assistance.
- The project trainees/interns shall not be eligible for accommodation facilities during their internship in DoS/ISRO Centres/Units.
- A certificate will be awarded to Project Trainees/ Interns upon satisfactory completion of their project/internship and on submission of their assignment report and its evaluation by the concerned division heads or concerned scientist.
- The Project Trainees/Interns shall be permitted only to UNCLASSIFIED areas of DoS/ISRO labs/establishments.
- The Project Trainees/Interns shall take clearance from Centres/Units for publishing papers/reports through external agents with regard to work done in DoS/ISRO Centres/Units.
