Job Description

The Associate Analytical Technologist will join BP’s Analytical Chemistry team, which plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s strategic framework across fuels, biofuels, SAF, biogas, hydrogen, and low-carbon initiatives. In this analytical chemistry position, the team develops and runs new analytical methods and equipment to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, standards-adherent experimental operations, contributing to the development of a proactive safety culture.
  • Own analytical techniques for the team, applying deep theoretical and practical expertise to deliver high-quality work and support technical excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytical chemistry methods and data quality, while expanding knowledge and capability across analytical techniques.
  • Partner with management to develop and implement the analytical strategy for the team, aligned with the global analytical function.

Eligibility 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemistry or related analytical science field, or proven experience in analytical techniques.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in catalyst or product characterisation techniques, with the ability to interpret and apply analytical results using methods such as XRD, microscopy, spectroscopy, GC, and GC-MS.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to present technical information to a wide range of audiences.

Desirable Experience: Experience with analytical techniques in solid, liquid, or gas phase mixtures.
