Education Qualification & Skills

  • M.Pharm / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, relevant Engineering or Life Sciences discipline.
  • Experience in formulation research and development is preferred.
  • Candidates with at least 1 year of industrial experience in a pharmaceutical formulation department will be given preference.
  • Experience in product development and scale-up is desirable.
  • Good understanding of formulation principles, techniques, and the chemical and physical properties of pharmaceutical materials.
  • Knowledge of different formulation techniques and analytical methodologies.
  • Ability to understand scientific literature related to drug and nucleic acid delivery and apply relevant concepts.
  • Ability to identify development challenges and bottlenecks and suggest suitable solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently interpret experimental data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly present scientific findings.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
  • Willingness to handle routine formulation and characterisation workloads.
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and master new experimental techniques.

Areas of Relevant Experience

Experience in all areas is not mandatory; experience in a relevant subset is acceptable for this research associate role.

  • Drug Delivery Systems: Liposomes, LNPs, solid-lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles and microparticles.
  • Polymer Chemistry: Molecular weight, degradation behaviour and synthesis.
  • Peptides & Proteins: Handling, stability and drug loading in drug delivery systems.
  • Controlled Drug Delivery: Implants, depot and in-situ depot systems.
  • Microfluidics: Lipid/polymeric nanoparticle synthesis, encapsulation and characterisation.
  • Purification: Ultrafiltration and tangential flow filtration (TFF).
  • Nanoparticle Characterisation: Particle size, zeta potential, pKa and viscosity measurements.
  • Microscopy: TEM, SEM and Confocal microscopy.
  • Analytical Techniques: UV, Fluorescence, FTIR, Circular Dichroism, Raman, PXRD, DLS, DSC, MS, NMR and Size Exclusion Chromatography.
  • Polymeric DDS Analysis: Particle size, UPLC/HPLC drug content, drug loading and drug release.
  • Higher-order structure and conformation analysis.
  • Biophysical Characterisation: Size, aggregates, instability mechanisms, thermal denaturation and ligand binding.
  • Nucleic Acid Quantification: RiboGreen-style assays and NanoDrop-style spectrophotometry.
  • In-vitro DDS Evaluation: Cell/cell-line handling, cell culture and evaluation using different cell models.
  • In-vivo DDS Evaluation: Animal handling, dosing, disease model development and DDS evaluation.

Selection Process

  • The selection process will have two rounds of interviews.
  • Shortlisted candidates will first undergo a phone interview.
  • Selected candidates will then attend a personal interview at Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
  • A Skype/teleconference interview may be considered for candidates unable to attend the personal interview.
