Job Details
- Position: Research Scientist
- Location: Umiam, Meghalaya
- Interview Dates: 10th, 11th, and 12th August 2026
- Qualification: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science/Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics/Chemistry/Physics/Computer Science or equivalent discipline AND Graduation in Science WITH one year research/work experience in Geoinformatics. Ph.D. in a relevant field is desirable.
- Required Skills: Working knowledge of Remote Sensing data handling and GIS software; programming skills, preferably Python and MATLAB; Ecological/Environmental modeling/forest fire studies.
- Emoluments: Monthly emoluments of ₹ 56,100/-
Job Description
The positions of Research Scientist at NESAC are temporary and will focus on various projects related to space applications and research. Candidates will be involved in projects that utilize remote sensing, GIS, and other technologies to support environmental management, disaster management, and resource planning in the North Eastern Region.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in relevant fields of space science and technology.
- Utilize remote sensing and GIS for data analysis and project implementation.
- Collaborate with teams to develop applications for environmental management.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to research findings.
- Participate in project planning and execution.
- Engage in fieldwork as required for data collection.
- Assist in the development of new methodologies for research.
- Present research findings in meetings and conferences.
Eligibility Criteria
- First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in relevant fields such as Geology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, etc.
- Ph.D. in relevant fields is desirable.
- Minimum one year of research/work experience in relevant areas.
- Valid NET/GATE qualification is required for certain positions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in remote sensing and GIS software.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R.
- Experience in data analysis and interpretation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with environmental modeling and analysis.
- Research skills in relevant scientific areas.
- Fieldwork experience in environmental studies.
