IIT Roorkee is recruiting one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an NMHS-funded research project titled “Decentralized Rainwater Harvesting and Greywater Treatment Using Electrocoagulation-Ceramic Membrane Systems in the Indian Himalayan Region.” This JRF Vacancy is based at the Department of Polymer & Process Engineering, Saharanpur Campus. Qualifications & Experience:
- M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology/Ceramic Engineering/Production/Mechanical/other suitable Engineering or Master’s in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Engineering Science/Chemical Science with GATE/NET score.
- Knowledge in ceramic membrane formation/formulation, porous material, mass transfer through porous materials, membrane preparation, membrane process’ water treatment, and/or knowledge of separation technology.
Emoluments: Rs. 37000 per month for 2 years with the possibility of promotion to SRF for 6 months at Rs. 42000/month after successful completion.
Duration: 2.5 years (or up to the duration of the project)
Job Description:
- Preparation of Concrete formulation, membrane preparation, setting up the required experimental setup, membrane fixing appropriately to the concrete structure.
- Examining water permeability, surface interaction between the membrane and the concrete surface, real application of the technology, field test at an industrial site if needed.
- Responsible for research work, report preparation, publication, and patent application if found suitable.
- Encouraged to join the Institute’s PhD program through this project.
