NIFTEM has an opening for a teaching position purely on a contract basis for Indian Nationals for the department detailed below. Applicants with a good academic record, teaching/research experience, and working in related areas of research are encouraged to apply.

Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university in any of the following specializations: Life Sciences and other allied Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Process Engineering, Basic and Applied Sciences, Agriculture Science, Bio-process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Biotechnology, Microbiology. (One of the degrees should be in the above specialization at the Master’s/PhD level)
- Ph.D. in any of the above-mentioned subjects.
- In addition to the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, DBT, or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET, or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phill./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as the case may be.
Desirable:
- Experience in any/of the above fields as evident from research work, publications, patents, etc. Having experience in Microbial Engineering.
- An excellent academic record throughout, in addition to a proven track record of outstanding research ability in the food sector, the candidate should have published a minimum of 5 research papers in refereed journals as per UGC guidelines with a minimum cumulative impact factor of 10.
General Instructions:
- The Position is purely on a contract basis initially for One Year and extendable as per the requirements of the Institute.

- An incomplete application form without a photograph, signatures, and other documents shall be summarily rejected. NIFTEM shall not entertain any correspondence in case of incomplete information and evidence.
- No correspondence regarding the consideration of late applications will be entertained.
- The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum, and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, and it will not be convenient or possible to interview a reasonable number on the basis of qualifications/experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
- Short-listing of the candidates will be done largely on the pattern prescribed by UGC in Appendix-II Table-3(A), and the relevant experience will also be given due weightage.
- The eligibility of the candidates will be determined on the basis of qualifications/experience/publications, etc., acquired by them up to the last date fixed for receipt of applications.
- NIFTEM reserves the right not to fill up any of the advertised position(s) / modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in the process of selection, in case any inadvertent mistake is detected even after issue of the appointment letter.
- The last date for submission of applications in all respects shall be 21/05/2026.
- An undertaking to be given by the candidate mentioning that ‘the publications submitted by them are free from any plagiarism, and if any plagiarism is found later, their candidature/selection shall stand rejected/canceled.
- As per the UGC communication dated 21st September 2016, “if the M.Phil/Ph.D. degree is awarded by a Foreign University, the Indian Institution considering such a degree shall refer the issue to a Standing Committee constituted by the concerned institution for the purpose of determining the equivalence of the degree awarded by the foreign University”.
