Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply analytical or physics-based models to interpret process behavior and identify key sensitivities
- Analyze experimental datasets to identify drivers of variability, performance limits, and process robustness
- Translate engineering analysis into insights that guide process development strategies
- Perform sensitivity, trade-off, and robustness analysis to support engineering decision-making
- Support hypothesis generation and validation through structured interpretation of experimental results
- Utilize modeling, simulation, and analytical tools to evaluate process behavior and parameter interactions
- Compile and evaluate engineering data to determine appropriate operating limits and process specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to connect modeling insights with development activities
- Document the theory of operation and strengthen the platform-level engineering understanding
Requirements:
Qualifications: Master’s degree (MS / MTech) in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Science
- Applied Physics
- Chemistry
- or a related discipline with relevance to the semiconductor equipment industry
Strong engineering foundation in one or more of the following areas:
- Plasma physics
- Transport phenomena
- Surface kinetics or reaction engineering
- Fluid mechanics or Electromagnetics
Experience: with computational or analytical tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar numerical analysis platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or research involving plasma processing or semiconductor manufacturing
- Experience developing physics-based models or numerical simulations
- Background in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), or Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)
- Background in Plasma Physics, Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Atomic Layer Etching (ALE), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Capacitively Coupled Plasma (CCP)
- Familiarity with working in a laboratory/clean room and on semiconductor equipment, with experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques
- In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Experience working with experimental datasets from laboratory or research environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate physical intuition into quantitative analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
