Job Details: 

Project Title: Development and scale-up of an ion sieve hollow fiber membrane for Li⁺ ion extraction from Seawater

Principal Investigator:

Dr. Mrinmoy Mondal, Senior Scientist, CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, Gujarat (Google Scholar Profile)

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry (01 post)

Desirable Experience: A candidate having M. Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized University or equivalent with experience in the field of polymeric membrane synthesis and characterization is desirable. The candidate will be working on polymeric membrane synthesis, characterization, process development, and demonstration of the processes.

Emoluments: Emoluments as per ANRF guidelines.

• For Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF): For M. Sc. in Chemistry – Rs. 37,000/- pm + HRA to scholars who are selected through a process described through any one of the following:
  • Scholars who are selected through National eligibility tests—CSIR-UGC NET, including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE.
  • The selection process through National level examinations conducted by the central Government department and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DOS, DRDO, DAE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
• Project Associate I: For an M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized University or equivalent
  • i) Rs. 37,000/- pm + HRA to scholars who are selected through
    • (a) National eligibility test CSIR-UGC NET, including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or
    • (b) A selection process through National Level Examinations conducted by the central Government Department and its agencies and Institutions.
  • (ii) 30,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above

Age: For Project JRF, maximum 28 years / Project Associate I, maximum 35 years. As on the last date of receipt of applications through email, i.e., 24th April, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable as per CSIR rules.

Duration: These positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of a project staff in different projects, either in the CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, or different labs/institutes of CSIR taken together, shall not exceed 6 years in any case. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim, implicit or explicit, for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.
