Contractual Engagement
Applications are invited for a contractual engagement for the project “Development of a Rapid Lateral Flow Immunoassay Kit for Screening Anabolic Androgenic Steroids in Nutritional Supplements” funded by NFSU, Gandhinagar, under the Seed Money Scheme
(SMS). This is purely on a temporary basis for the following position.Project Details

- Monthly Remuneration (Consolidated): Rs. 20,000/-
- Engagement Period: Initially for 12 months (can be extended as per the project requirement)
Eligibility
Minimum Eligibility: Master’s degree in Forensic Science/ with specialization in Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology/ Forensic Biotechnology/ Biotechnology/Food Technology/ Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Desirable: Understanding of FSSAI regulations and nutritional supplements. Knowledge/Experience with lateral flow immunoassay will be an added advantage. Proficient in computer operations, software applications, and data management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in research activities related to the development of a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) kit for rapid screening of anabolic androgenic steroids in nutritional supplement matrices.
- Support sample collection and preparation of nutritional supplement products (powders, capsules, tablets, liquids) for laboratory analysis.
- Perform preliminary screening tests using immunoassay-based techniques and assist in optimizing assay conditions for improved sensitivity and specificity.
- Assist in laboratory experiments related to reagent preparation, extraction procedures, and sample clean-up protocols.
- Compile, organize, and manage scientific data generated during the project, including maintaining laboratory notebooks and digital databases.
- Perform statistical analysis and data interpretation to support assay development, validation studies, and reporting of experimental outcomes.
- Assist in validation of the developed screening method, including evaluation of parameters such as sensitivity, selectivity, repeatability, and robustness.
- Support field activities, including nationwide sample collection from markets, gyms, or other relevant locations, and documentation of field data.
- Assist in regulatory and literature review, including gathering information on prohibited substances, supplement labeling practices, and relevant FSSAI or anti-doping regulations.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to project progress, experimental findings, and research outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety practices and quality control procedures during all experimental and field activities.
- Assist in the preparation of research publications, conference presentations, and project reports based on the outcomes of the study.
