Admission Details
CSIR-CFTRI under AcSIR invites applications from eligible candidates for a full-time Doctoral (Ph.D.) Research Programme in Sciences and Engineering for the August 2026 session.
1. PhD Sciences (Biological Sciences and Chemical Sciences):
Qualifying degree:
A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree in Science after a 3-year/6-semester Bachelor’s degree in Science, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point-scale.
OR
A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree in Science with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point-scale.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
Eligible categories:
- National-level fellowship
- Temporary project staff of AcSIR Associated Research Institutes
- Industry/Institute Sponsored candidates
2. PhD (Engineering):
Qualifying degree:
A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point-scale.
OR
A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point-scale.

Additional Information
- Applicants whose final results are awaited, but are otherwise eligible, can also apply. Their continuation in the program will be subject to securing the required percentage/equivalent grade and submission of the marks sheet of their final result.
- The tuition fee paid is transferable to any other AcSIR-associated institute, subject to the availability of seats and till the commencement of the academic session.

Selection
Selection for admission to Ph.D. programmes of AcSIR at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, shall be on the basis of Aptitude tests/Interviews (online or in person) of shortlisted Candidates to be held at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru. No TA & DA shall be paid, and candidates should arrange their own accommodation and food.
