Position Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Process Engineer to join our Global Crop Protection Innovation (CPI) team in Vapi, Gujarat. In this pivotal role, you will oversee process development activities within our Process Engineering Lab and Pilot Plant, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operations. You will be responsible for guiding the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes with a strong emphasis on flexibility, safety, and sustainability. Working cross-functionally with R&D, operations, and project teams, you will develop innovative solutions for complex challenges, setting the engineering direction for flexible, modular, and campaign-based manufacturing systems (batch and continuous) across both in-house and toller facilities. This position demands deep technical expertise in process engineering, combined with strong leadership and project execution capabilities, alongside an unwavering commitment to the highest safety standards and meticulous data documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Experimental Design & Execution: Design, conduct, and analyse process engineering experiments in lab and pilot plant environments, covering various unit operations (e.g., filtration, distillation, LLE, crystallization, drying) and continuous trials (e.g., CSTR, PFR).
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Generate, interpret, and analyse experimental data using statistical tools and software (e.g., Aspen, Scale Up suit), then record results and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Technology Transfer & Scale-Up: Lead the successful transfer of technology from R&D and pilot plant stages to commercial manufacturing scale, ensuring accurate data capture throughout scale-up trials.
  • Process Optimization & Debottlenecking: Conduct feasibility studies, implement process optimization initiatives, and debottleneck existing operations at both internal manufacturing facilities and external tolling sites.
  • Process Safety Management: Ensure stringent adherence to all safety protocols in laboratory and production areas; actively participate in critical Process Safety Management (PSM) activities such as HAZOP, LOPA, and PHA studies.
  • Troubleshooting & Solution Implementation: Diagnose complex process issues and effectively propose and implement data-driven solutions to maintain and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • B.E/ B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from a reputed Indian or international institute
  • Experience in process scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory to pilot and/or manufacturing scale, and must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience building and applying first-principles models (e.g., reaction kinetics, mass transfer, distillations, crystallization, filtration, drying) with proficiency across several modelling platforms
  • Interpretation of Process safety data, including RC1eDSC/ARC/ARSST/TSU/Powder safety, for process understanding and process control is desirable
  • High assertiveness, enjoy working in a team, and the ability to guide and develop employees
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan, and follow through on complex projects in a multi-disciplinary international team
  • Ability to effectively challenge the status quo and underlying assumptions to discover innovations, and the ability to turn ideas into results
  • Experience in fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, Advance agro intermediate manufacturing
  • Experience in a pilot plant or multipurpose plant environment would be beneficial
