Tenure of Project: Maximum 36 months or till the end of the project, whichever is earlier.

Job Description
In this project, the candidate will investigate hydrogen-based direct reduction of hematite/low-grade iron ores, with emphasis on how gangue impurities influence reduction kinetics and final metallization. The candidate will conduct reduction experiments, perform phase/microstructure characterization, and carry out thermodynamic/kinetic modelling to establish impurity-tolerant processing windows.

Essential Qualification
M. Tech. / ME in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Materials Engineering/ Nanoscience and Engineering/ Nanotechnology/ Production Engineering/ Manufacturing Engineering/ or equivalent (with first division as defined by the awarding Institute / University); or Post Graduate degree in Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science with first division as defined by the awarding Institute /University, and a Valid NET/ GATE certificate.

Desirable Qualification
Knowledge and experience in Physical Metallurgy, Extractive/Process Metallurgy, Mechanical Metallurgy, Materials Characterization, Solid state physics, and Basic Electrochemistry.

Age Limit
Maximum 29 years (5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates and 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates).

Fellowship
As per the norms of the funding agency:
Rs. 37,000/- pm (Consolidated)
Rs. 42,000/- per month (for third year)

Admission to the PhD Program
The selected candidate will be encouraged to join the Ph.D. program at IIT Indore. Candidates who are going to complete his/her M. Tech. in the current academic year are also encouraged to apply.
