Job Purpose
Work on new product development, process development of existing and new products, and support the daily activities of the Lab.
How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)
- Understand the project requirements and perform a Literature search using SciFinder and other methods, such as STN, journal searches, etc.
- To perform all sorts of reactions with hazardous/Non-hazardous reaction chemicals in the laboratory safely for the development of products. To perform high-pressure reactions both at small and kilogram scales.
- Process development and process optimization of the lead molecule, a cost reduction approach.
- Hands-on experience on Gas chromatography, High-pressure liquid chromatography, Liquid chromatography and mass spectroscopy, and Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy
- Proper handling and taking care of Laboratory equipment, which includes maintenance, dealing with vendors for annual maintenance contracts
- Vendor scouting for chemicals procurement, price reduction, and working closely with the procurement team.
- Write review reports summarizing the data.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)
- Master of Science in organic chemistry/ M.Tech in oils, fats, and Lubricant chemistry/PhD in organic chemistry.
- Candidates with backgrounds in lubricant chemistry are preferred but not mandatory.
- Postgraduate students should have at least 8 years of industrial experience.
- After a PhD with minimum of 2-4 years of industrial experience or 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience
- Synthetic chemistry knowledge.
- Knowledge of Spectroscopic methods like GC/LC-MS/NMR/Cyclic voltammetry.
- Knowledge of Lubricant chemistry is preferred but not mandatory.
- Good communication skills, ability to prepare laboratory reports, and good interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements / Travel Requirements
- Lab 5x a week
- Must be willing to be located in Maharashtra, India
- May require occasional local or international travel (approximately 20%).
