Admission to the Ph.D. Program for the 2026-27 (Winter Session)
Applications are invited for the BRIC – THSTI – JNU Ph.D. Program. Candidates from Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Information Sciences are eligible to apply.
THSTI is committed to conducting innovative translational research and developing research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.
THSTI has established various centres namely: Centre for Maternal and Child Health; Centre for Viral Therapeutics and Vaccines; Centre for Tuberculosis Research; Centre for Microbial Research; Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy; Centre for Drug Discovery; Clinical Development Services Agency; Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre; Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics.
These centres are strengthened by core facilities namely: Bioassay Laboratory; Biorepository; Biosafety Level – 3 Lab; Data Management Centre; Immunology Core Laboratory; Multi-OMICS Facility; Experimental Animal Facility; Vaccine Design and Development Facility.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
- For Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Information Sciences Domain: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC, CSIR, ICMR or DBT OR Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) of 3 years which should be extendable for 2 more years for pursuing Ph.D.
- For Mathematics Domain: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, NBHM, GATE or UGC (Category – II/III) OR Senior Research Fellowship of 3 years which should be extendable for 2 more years for pursuing Ph.D.
- Note: The validity for activation of the fellowship shall be for a period of at least 4 months from the last date of receipt of application.
- For Medical Sciences: Should have MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BHMS/ MD/ MDS/ MPH or its equivalent with at least 55% marks.
Selection Procedure:
Shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview, and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website. Selection will be based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The interview will take place at THSTI, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.

Notes include category-wise fellowship applicability and the possibility of fewer vacancies based on suitability.
General Terms & Conditions:
Candidates appearing in the final examination of their Master’s degree may apply, but results must be available at the time of the Ph.D. interview. Reservation policy follows Government of India norms. The Ph.D. Program is governed by JNU rules. Selected students must undergo Ph.D. course work for 2 semesters. Fees levied by JNU shall be payable by the student. Shared hostel accommodation may be availed in lieu of HRA.
How to Apply:
- Documents to be kept handy include photograph, CV, educational certificates, fellowship letters, category certificates, etc.
- Procedure: Fill the online application at https://thsti.res.in/en/Jobs → upload documents → pay the application fee through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking/ UPI → submit the form.
- On successful submission, an auto-generated email with reference number will be sent. Applicants must keep a printout of the online application form. Eligibility will be verified strictly; incomplete applications will be rejected.
