Junior Research Fellow – Indo-German IRTG Program, IISER Thiruvananthapuram
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram, a premier autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Indo-German (DST-DFG) International Research Training Groups (IRTG). The selected candidate will work on the project “Photoluminescence in Supramolecular Matrices” and engage in collaborative international research.
This fully funded program provides students with international exposure through exchange visits and conferences with faculty from the University of Würzburg. The project involves 20 expert faculty members from IISER Thiruvananthapuram and University of Würzburg, specializing in photochemistry, offering a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in cutting-edge research.
Program Highlights:
- Students meeting the IISER PhD eligibility criteria are eligible to enroll in a doctoral degree program.
- Eligible students can secure a dual degree from IISER Thiruvananthapuram and the University of Würzburg.
- Duration: 5 years, with 1 year at the University of Würzburg, Germany.
- Participation in international symposia in Germany for enhanced research exposure.

- Postgraduate Degree in Chemistry or Physics.
- Qualified in at least one national eligibility test (CSIR-UGC NET JRF/ Lectureship, DBT-JRF, GATE, JEST 2024, INSPIRE PhD, JGEEBILS).
- Minimum 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale) or first-class Master’s degree for General/OBC-NCL candidates; 50% marks or CGPA 5.5 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- BS-MS students from IISERs/IITs/IISc with a CGPA ≥8 are exempted from national eligibility tests.
Preference: Candidates with work experience in theoretical chemistry or theoretical physics.
