Job Description
Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in an SNF-funded project titled “Nanomedicine for Breast Cancer: Exosome Carriers With Thermal Agents And Nanothermometer For Effective Therapy And Monitoring” under the supervision of Animesh Samanta, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Natural Sciences.
The project aims to develop nanomedicines that combine organic exosomes and inorganic perovskite nanocrystals for thermal therapy and real-time intracellular temperature monitoring.
Project Duration:
30 MonthsFellowship: ₹37,000/- per month (consolidated)
Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize and characterize NIR dyes and gold nanorods for photothermal therapy.
- Isolate exosomes from cancer cells and/or develop nanocarriers for targeted delivery.
- Develop magnetic nanoparticles or perovskite nanocrystals for thermal therapy.
- Design temperature-sensitive sensors for monitoring intracellular temperature.
- Load photothermal agents and temperature sensors into nanocarriers for efficient delivery.
- Conduct cellular uptake studies and evaluate synergistic effects for breast cancer therapy.
- Assess therapeutic efficacy of nanomedicine in zebrafish models.
- Perform cellular assays to evaluate cell death during thermal therapy.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (minimum 55%) in Chemistry or Solid State Physics from a UGC-recognized university.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Preferably familiar with organic synthesis or cell culture techniques.
- Knowledge of organic material characterization is desirable.
- Candidates with DST-INSPIRE/CSIR/UGC-NET/GATE are encouraged to apply.
- Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary research environment.
