Job Description
As an R&D Technician at Sika, you will be responsible for running new formulations in the lab, testing them as per specifications, and assisting in pilot trial batches. You will support the development of new test methods, quality control criteria, and manufacturing instructions for specialty chemicals, adhesives, and sealants, ensuring all activities align with company standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Run new formulations in the lab based on local requirements (sealants and adhesives).
- Document test results in a professional manner through detailed reports.
- Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation for tests with minimal supervision.
- Evaluate additional technical data such as weatherability, chemical resistance, and other material properties.
- Assist in scaling up processes from laboratory to full production.
- Coordinate with internal and external units for specialized testing.
- Identify and report product irregularities or problems.
- Collaborate with Senior Technical and R&D colleagues for lab projects and follow-up actions.
Qualifications
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Polymers, or Sciences.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in R&D, application testing, customer support, or technical service in specialty chemicals, adhesives, or sealants (preferably Polyurethane/SMP/Epoxy/Acrylics).
- Hands-on experience in running and testing formulations in a lab environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and DoE.
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and communication skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
