Job Description
Tata Electronics is seeking a Chemical and Slurry Engineer to manage the design, operation, and reliability of chemical and slurry delivery systems supporting wafer fabrication. The role involves handling bulk and specialty chemicals, CMP slurry blending and distribution, storage, and supply systems. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring continuous uptime, adhering to safety and environmental standards, and supporting fab expansions and tool installations.
Key Responsibilities
Chemical & Slurry System Operations
- Operate and maintain bulk/specialty chemical delivery systems, slurry distribution units, storage tanks, pumps, and valves.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of acids, bases, solvents, and CMP slurries to wafer processing tools.
- Monitor system parameters (flow, pressure, purity, pH, particle stability) to maintain quality.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Engineering & Project Support
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new systems.
- Develop P&IDs, equipment specs, SOPs, and MOC documentation.
- Collaborate with tool hook-up teams for system integration.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with SEMI, NFPA, FM Global, and local EHS regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and chemical hazard analyses.
- Implement safe handling, spill containment, and waste disposal practices.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Troubleshoot issues like contamination, flow restrictions, or slurry instability.
- Optimize blending, filtration, and delivery processes.
- Monitor KPIs (purity, uptime, usage) and drive process improvement.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with process engineering, EHS, and vendors.
- Provide technical training to technicians and operators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 3–10 years’ experience in chemical/slurry systems in semiconductor fabs, chemical plants, or CMP operations.
- Strong knowledge of slurry blending, filtration, and chemical distribution systems.
- Hands-on experience with SCADA/DCS systems and process monitoring.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred
- Experience in CMP slurry systems.
- Familiarity with SEMI standards, ISO, and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Vendor and contractor management experience.
