Job Description
As a Specification Management Senior Analyst, you will support the global R&D Spec Management function by creating, maintaining, and updating formula, ingredient, and packaging specifications. You will coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and global business service centers to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely completion of specifications, while identifying process improvement opportunities and mentoring junior analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and manage ingredient, formula, and packaging specifications.
- Train teams on Spec Systems, tools, and processes, and become certified as a Spec Writer.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and propose recommendations to leadership.
- Guide and review the work of junior Spec Writer Analysts as needed.
- Maintain relationships with R&D spec teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support Product Development, Food Safety, Regulatory Affairs, QA, Procurement, and SQA teams.
- Gather and manage supplier data, questionnaires, and align on specification details.
- Initiate and validate material testing requests for specification quality parameters.
- Upload documents and track workflows in systems like Product Vision and SAP.
- Conduct Packaging ICS reviews and manage supplier approvals.
- Ensure requests are completed within defined SLAs and escalate critical issues as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering (or Packaging-related field for packaging roles).
- 2–5 years of experience in the Food/Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, with 1–2 years in Product Development or Specification Writing.
- Proven leadership or mentoring experience with senior stakeholders or small teams.
- Strong technical training, coaching, and communication skills.
- Experience in system conversions or implementation preferred.
- Knowledge of Food Safety, Microbiology, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn new systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across time zones.
- Fluent in English (and Spanish if located in MBS).
