Job Description
As a Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the process safety (significant hazards) management system. This includes overseeing HAZOP process documentation, trainings, management of change (MoC), ensuring the quality of process safety incident investigations, CAPA actions, and ensuring site-wide learning implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Process Safety Management (PSM) systems at the site/unit in line with global EHS standards.
- Conduct surveillance of gap analysis against global PSM standards and plan for implementation.
- Deliver PSM training to build operational team competency.
- Monitor compliance with risk assessment requirements and track the completion of actions.
- Drive controls for raw risks and support asset integrity programs.
- Ensure significant accident hazard (MAH) risks are controlled to ALARP levels.
- Define appropriate BPCS/IP/Reliefs as part of risk assessment controls.
- Contribute to the ONSEP plan data submissions and coordinate with third parties for QRA/PSM audits.
- Drive process safety culture and competency building at the site.
- Track and close CAPA actions from investigations and audits.
- Conduct internal audits on process safety systems and support operations on day-to-day safety issues.
- Escalate high-risk findings to plant and EHS management and define temporary controls as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of powder safety hazards and chemical reactivity hazards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the industry, with at least 1–2 years in the chemical/pharmaceutical sector as a process engineer, operations engineer, or process safety engineer.
