CSIR UGC NET 2016: The e-Admission Certificate for the Joint CSIR-UGC Test for JRF/LS test, which is scheduled to be held on 19 June, has been released. All the registered candidates can download their admit cards from the official portal at csirhrdg.res.in.

Schedule of Joint CSIR-UGC Test

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam is scheduled to be held on 19 June 2016 (Sunday) in two sessions: morning session (9.00AM-12.00 Noon) and afternoon session (2.00 PM-5.00 PM). No paper admit card will be sent by post; candidates are required to download it from the website. There will no duplicate admit card issued to the candidates at the examination center.

The applications for the Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship And Eligibility for Lectureship was invited through an advertisement (10-2(5)/2016(i) – E.U.II) released on 05 February 2016. Applications were invited from eligible candidates till 01 March 2016.

About Joint CSIR-UGC Test

CSIR conducts the Joint CSIR-UGC Test, twice a year, for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. The award of

Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable. Two separate merit lists, one comprising the candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF – NET) and the second, of those candidates qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET), will be made on the basis of their performance in the above Test. Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET) subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. The candidates qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable. However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF-NET Fellowship. Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will receive fellowship either from CSIR or UGC as per their assignment or from the Schemes with which they may find association. The candidates declared eligible for Junior Research Fellowship under UGC scheme and Lectureship will be governed by UGC rules/regulations in this regard.

The final result of the Joint CSIR-UGC test will be declared in the month of September/ October 2016 and all the fellowships awarded, thereafter will be effective from 01 January 2017 with a validity of 02 years.

Examination Pattern & Subjects of the Joint CSIR-UGC Test

Candidates who have registered for the examination can have a quick glance on the examination pattern and the subjects of the test. The Joint CSIR-UGC test will be held in the subjects of Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. The question paper will comprise of MCQs and will carry a total of 200 marks. The total time duration for the examination will be 3 hours.

Syllabus of Joint CSIR-UGC Test

The question paper will comprise of three parts, (A, B & C):

Part ‘A’: It will be common to all subjects. This part will contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc.

Part ‘B’: It will contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.

Part ‘C’: It will contain higher value questions that may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions will be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.
