Job Title – Scientist / Senior Scientist – Process Scale up

Purpose:

To deliver unique solutions using Process Science & Engineering to the “Topical” Product manufacturing that require bringing together expertise across different key domains of Chemical Engineering, polymer Sciences, Polymorph Studies, Excipient Chemistry, API from within and outside DRL. The incumbent is expected to enable delivery through solving scale up challenges and scale up products based on the advanced chemical engineering Technologies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of advanced Chemical Engineering Technologies for rapid product scale up
  • Enabling the delivery by solving the technical challenges through deep understanding of science & engineering.
  • Also, lead rapid continuous manufacturing of differentiated products (at the intersection of Chemistry, Process
  • Engineering and Qbd) and applying scientific/technical expertise to address complex challenges in product scale up. Ensure fast PoC’s by facilitating problem solving and brainstorming sessions that enable teams to address critical challenges and enable the delivery. Strive to look for novel processes leading to IP advantage.
  • Implement and integrate robust scale up leveraging QbD approach

 

  • Enabling Scale up & Manufacturing by bringing in both science and engineering understanding
  • Development & Deployment of a new and non-obvious understanding during conceptualisation of the product scale up & manufacturing. Molecular level understanding of different aspects of formulation leading to formulation understanding and building a strong model to provide good understanding & forecast probable failures very early. Good understanding of process fingerprints at different stages of manufacturing will add value to the product scale up
  • Integrating Advanced Process Analytical technology and Chemical Engineering R&D tools for product scale up and manufacturing
  • Identify techniques and technologies required for in line products CQAs monitoring through advanced PAT tools for monitoring molecular as well as bulk properties like Thermal, structural and spectroscopic & microscopic studies like PXRD, Raman, FTIR. Good knowledge & experience on reverse engineering the process of innovator. Good understanding of CPPs impacting CMAs is highly preffered
  • Advanced process science & engineering and statistics to speed up Successful Product scale up
  • To conduct DoE / statistical data analysis and increase the success rate
  • Applying process science & engineering and techniques to understand the criticality of API/ Excipient CMAs and CPPs and their interactions leading to process fingerprints
  • Use process modelling tools like ASPEN and CFD tools like ANSYS to infer new engineering insights which enables IP and process enhancements keeping science in tact at all levels of scale up
  • Design and Implement process engineering technology
  • Harness the intellectual and technological competencies to envision and evolve novel concepts and ideas
  • Play a major role during the Phase-Gate Processes for topical
  • Incorporate Virtual Formulation Prototyping using design thinking through API- Excipient Chemistry, polymorphism understanding and other modelling Tools

Knowledge:

  • Strong scale up skills to design and manage projects that require innovation in process engineering, through the use of QbD concepts
  • Strong statistical knowledge
  • Strong understanding of implementation of process modelling to real time scale up activities

Educational Background: PhD or MTech in Chemical Engineering/ Materials Sciences/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Experience Required: PhD with 1 to 4 years OR MTech with 5 to 8 years of experience in scaling up of topical or other related formulations
