POSITION AVAILABLE UNDER DBT SPONSORED PROJECT AT UPPER ASSAM ADVISORY CENTRE

Positions are available for two (2) Junior Research Fellow (temporary) under the DBT Unit of Excellence project “A study on aluminium detoxification in tea (Camellia sinensis L.): Paradigm shift towards biotechnology approach” at Upper Assam Advisory Centre, Tea Research Association, Dikom -786101, Dibrugarh, Assam.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE : Candidate should be M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Chemistry / Environmental Science/ Agricultural Chemistry / Soil Science or on allied relevant discipline in Earth Sciences from recognized University with good academic background. Preference will be given to C.S.I.R./U.G.C./N.E.T qualified candidates with knowledge in computer and statistical analysis having good writing skills. Competence and experience in the line of work will also be honored.

AGE LIMIT : Maximum age limit is 30 years as on 3rd October, 2017. A relaxation of age-limit upto 2 years may be considered by the competent authority in the case of applicants who are suitably qualified and have research experience in relevant discipline. In the case of applicants of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes, age relaxation upto

5 years maybe allowed.

DUTIES : Selected candidate has to carry out field trials and chemical analysis involved in various experiments under the project along with preparation of draft report and manuscript.

TENURE AND FELLOWSHIP : The tenure of the Fellowship is three years. The selected candidate shall be entitled for fellowship of Rs.25000/+ 10% HRA per month for the first two years as JRF and Rs. 28000/-+10% HRA for the third year as SRF for those candidate having Post graduate degree in basic science with NET qualification or graduate degree in Professional course with NET qualification or Post Graduate degree in professional course. Candidate without NET qualification will be entitled fellowship of Rs. 12000/-+ 10% HRA for the first two years as JRF and Rs. 14000/-+10% HRA for the third year as SRF.

DA AND CCA : The selected candidate will not be entitled to these allowances.

HOUSE RENT ALLOWANCE (HRA) : The selected candidate may be provided with hostel accommodation subject to availability. JRF residing in accommodation provided by the Institute will not be eligible to draw HRA. Wherever provision of hostel accommodation is not possible, HRA will be allowed. The fellowship amount may be taken as basic for calculating the HRA.

LEAVE AND OTHER ENTITLED BENEFITS : The JRF/SRF is eligible for leave as per TRA Policy for Research Fellowship and PI of the project will sanction/reject the leave. Participation in any scientific event/ workshops in India and aboard will be treated as “on duty”. The travel entitlement of JRF for participation in scientific events / workshops in India will be on 3rd AC by rail. Maternity leave as per Govt. of India instructions issued from time to time would be admissible to female candidates only.

BONUS & LEAVE TRAVEL CONCESSION : JRFSRF will not be entitled to these allowances.

ENGAGEMENT FOR PURSUING HIGHER DEGREE : Candidates selected as JRF/SRF may be encouraged to register for higher degrees and the tuition fees to undertake these studies may be reimbursed to the student from the contingency grant sanctioned under the project grant, if required.

OBLIGATIONS OF JRF:

a. JRF will have to sign the acceptance of Appointment Letter before joining.
b. She/he shall be governed by the disciplinary regulations of TRA.
c. The JRF/SRF must submit a detailed consolidated report of the research work done during the entire period, on completion of the tenure or resignation, whichever is earlier.
d. JRF/SRF will not be allowed to discontinue her/his scholarship without prior approval from the Competent Authority.

PUBLICATION(S)/PATENT(S): The results of JRF’s research work may be published in standard refereed Journals at the discretion to the Fellow or her/his Guide. It should be ensured by the Fellow that the assistance provided by the DBT is acknowledged in all such publications.

The appointments will be purely on contractual basis and hence the Institute will not provide any employment after completion of the project. Only the candidates recommended by the Screening Committee will be called for interview. The decision of the Institute on short-listing will be final and the Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this respect. No TA/DA will be admissible for attending in the interview.
