Advertisement for a Project Assistant Position in the DST INSPIRE funded project
Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Project Assistant for the project entitled “Novel Biocompatible Nanocomposites for SERS Based Sensing of Biomolecules and Toxic Metal Ions” under Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The project involves the studies of the interaction of probe molecule with Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) active substrates. The candidate is expected to perform different spectroscopic and analytical methodologies e.g., UV-Vis, Fluorescence, FT-IR, Raman, TEM, FESEM, XRD and Cyclic voltammetry etc.

Eligibility: M.Sc. in Inorganic/Physical Chemistry/ Nanoscience and Technology.
Age limit: Must not be over 28 years as on September 22, 2017 (relaxable as per the norms/orders of Government
Consolidated monthly compensation / Fellowship: Rs. 14,000/- month for first 02 years and Rs. 16,000/- month
for the last 02 years.
Duration: Initial appointment is for one year, which is extendable up to 4years solely based on the performance.
General terms and conditions:
The position is temporary and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of four (04)
years. Candidate selected for this position can also apply for the Ph.D. program of NIT Meghalaya as per the
Original documents of age proof/certificates/degrees/mark-sheets and other testimonials must be presented at the
time of interview. Self-attested photocopies of these documents are to be submitted along with application form on
the day of interview.
Mere possession of minimum qualification does not guarantee invitation to the interview. Candidates will be short
listed based on merit and need of the project. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated to appear in the
interview and no other communication in this regard will be entertained. The authority reserves the right of
accepting/rejecting any or all applications without assigning any reason thereof.
No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
