Job Purpose :
Lab Manager – Analytical Chemistry: The manager should coordinates the activities of Analytical Chemistry team to meet the challenge and goals. The manager ensures that routine tests requested by cross-functional groups are performed promptly. The manager is expected thoroughly knowledgeable in all of the routine analytical assurance testing conducted in the lab.

1. Independently manages all analytical chemistry laboratory activities for assigned functions and projects
· 2. Responsibilities include materials characterization and analysis, data & interpretation and analysis, problem solving, work flow management and prioritization to meet deadlines.
· 3. Strong knowledge of current laboratory facilities, methods, equipment, materials and ability to perform standardized analytical examinations independently.
· 4. Completes updates to Laboratory SOPs, new test method development, smart testing for the identification of monomers, fatty acids, impurities etc.
· 5. Supervise other lab staff, to ensure quality data, timely results, and compliance to ISO 9001, NABL guidelines.
· 6. Ability and willingness to train and cross-train associates on instrument operation and procedures.
· 7. Recommends updates and improvement to existing methods and procedures
· 8. Knowledge of public health laws and regulations.
· 9. Maintaining and/or working with instrument vendors to ensure reliability and throughput on laboratory & instruments.
• Hands on experience in a lab working with modern analytical instruments and new test method development

Role Requirements / Specifications
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in analytical/physical chemistry from reputed institute/university is required
Previous Experience
• A minimum of 2-6 years of experience of related work experience is required.
• Experience in the coating industry is strongly preferred.
• Preferred candidate will have significant experience and expertise in chromatography (GC, GC-MS, HPLC, & GPC), Spectroscopy (ICP, FTIR), Microscopy (Cryo-SEM, FESEM) & Working knowledge and/or expertise & in thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, & DMA) and rheology is a plus.
Functional Competencies
To develop a new test methods, smart testing for identification of molecules, impurities, and defect structures in paint. Should be able to work with the team in complaint handling trying to identify problem source.
Behavioral Competencies
Ability to get along well with people. Be willing to learn and contribute by working on multiple analytical characterization techniques and be capable of meeting tough deadlines.
