The NIPER-Guwahati is the fifth institute to be included in the list of the premium institutes under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. NIPER-Guwahati started functioning from the month of September, 2008. The institute is presently housed at Guwahati Medical College, Guwahati. The Institute has excellent facilities for advanced education and research in pharmaceutical sciences and is looking for teaching and non teaching staff of high degree of knowledge and willing to contribute in building this institute as one of the best centers of excellence. Presently the Institute is running M.S (Pharm.) and Ph. D Programmes and planning to expand further.

NIPER Guwahati is now inviting applications for Teaching and Non-Teaching positions on contractual basis which are likely to be continued based on the performance of the selected candidates. Candidates will be paid consolidated emoluments as per the norms and the emoluments will be fixed at the time of interview based on the experience and selection committee recommendations.

Position I 

Job Title – Associate Professor

Department – Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology

Qualifications

Essential – Ph.D in Pharmaceutical sciences with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree (MS Pharm/ M Pharm/MTech) in Pharmacology and Toxicology / Biotechnology with good academic record throughout.

A minimum of 6 years of post PhD Teaching/Research/industrial experience, of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor / Senior Scientific Officer/ or equivalent on the date of applications. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in In vitro and In vivo pharmacology mainly in the areas of cancer, diabetes, inflammation and in terms of guidance of Masters and Ph.D. students, strong record of publications in SCI indexed journals and conference, patents, laboratory / course development and / or other recognized relevant professional activities such as principal investigator of major research projects.

Desirable – Preference will be given to the candidate with teaching experience to MS/M.Pharm/M.Tech students as well as research experience in terms of guiding to MS/M.Pharm/M.Tech, Ph.D students


Position II

Qualifications

Essential – Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences with 1st class or equivalent at the preceding degree (M.S.(Pharm)/M.Pharm) in the Pharmacy practice having teaching/industrial/research experience with good academic record. Minimum 6 years of Post Ph.D. experience in Teaching/Industry/Research out of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent at P.G. level teaching/Industrial/ Research Institute.
The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of Ph D students, strong record of publications in reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities such as principal investigator of major research projects.

Desirable – Persons having experience of development of pharmaceutical products and patents and strong background in developing and validation of pharmaceutical formulations and/or clinical practices research employing modern techniques, Patient safety, pharmaceutical care, geriatric pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmaco-economics, antimicrobial usage, community and rural pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, Pharmacotherapeutics, Rational use of drugs, Clinical Pharmacy, clinical and applied therapeutics and Clinical trials shall be preferred.

  4. The envelope containing the CV in the prescribed format along with supporting documents in support of age, qualifications and experiences, superscribing ‘Application for the post of —‘ whichever is applied should be clearly mentioned, must reach the office of Registrar, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER-Guwahati), 1st Floor, Institute of Pharmacy, Guwahati Medical College & Hospital, Narakasur Hill top, Guwahati – 781 032, Assam on or before 28th January 2017. The Institute will NOT be responsible for non-receipt of application(s) within the stipulated date due to any postal delay / loss of application / document sent in transit. Late applications may not be considered.
  5. On the recommendation of the selection committee, the competent authority may relax age limit/ experience/ qualification on recommendation of the Committee. Higher starting pay may be considered in case of extra meritorious candidate and Salary will be fixed at the time of interview based on the experience of the candidate.
  6. In case no suitable candidate(s) is/are found for higher faculty post(s) i.e. Associate Professor/Assistant Professor, lower faculty post(s) i.e. Assistant Professor/Asst Prof (contract) may be offered.

The applicants serving in Government /Semi-Government /Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous organizations must send their application on the prescribed format along with relevant documents ‘Through proper channel’, failing which, the same will not be considered. However to save the time, candidate may send an advance copy and bring the NOC at the time of interview.
  9. Incomplete application or without relevant supporting enclosures (attested copies of degrees / certificates / marks sheets / experience certificates / Document certifying date of birth, reprint of important publications etc.) will be out-rightly rejected.
  10. Canvassing in any form may lead to disqualification of candidature.
