The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute’s establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India’s independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics. It is hoped that in coming years, the ongoing efforts of NIPGR will allow India to emerge as one of the most important national and international resource institutes for material, knowledge and technologies in the areas of functional, structural, evolutionary and applied genomics of plants, including crop plants.

Applications are invited for filling up one position of Research Associate (RA) in the Institute with Dr. Subhra Chakraborty, Scientist, NIPGR, in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme.

Post Title: Research Associate (RA)

Project Title: “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme.

Qualification: Candidates having Ph. D. degree (awarded) from recognized University in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics etc. or related field with throughout good academic record having first division. The selected candidate is expected to work in the

area of plant immunity. Candidates having strong molecular biology and biochemistry background with additional experience in functional genomics and proteomics will be preferred.

Fellowship: The Fellowship amount for the position will be given at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST.

NOTE: NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Tenure: The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, which can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.

The attested copies of the mark-sheets, certificates, proof of research experience/publications are to be attached. The application should reach at the address given below on or before 16th July, 2016. The envelope should be superscribed as “Application for the post of RA”. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
