Division of Protein Science – (Role 236)
Scientist/Senior Scientist Mass Spectrometry

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our Mass Spectrometry Research Group.  The group is equipped with the very latest generation LC-MS/MS instruments and bioinformatics software and performs the critical role of target identification within Adaptimmune.

Candidates should have a minimum of a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry or Molecular Biology, maybe with additional postdoctoral laboratory experience in academia

or industry.

Ideally candidates would have experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Quantitative proteomics and mass spectrometry of peptides and proteins using latest generation LC-MS/MS platforms
  • Protein biochemistry, with an emphasis on protein purification by immunoaffinity purification from tissue samples
  • Bioinformatic analyses of large datasets

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and operation of LC-MS/MS mass spectrometers
  • Bioinformatic analyses of large, quantitative proteomics datasets
  • Purification and identification of HLA peptides by mass spectrometry from cell lines and tumour tissues
  • Communication of scientific findings to other research groups within Adaptimmune
  • Design, optimization and implementation of new mass spectrometry based assays
  • Accurate recording and reporting of experimental findings

Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates should have a good undergraduate degree and a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Mass Spectrometry, Proteomics, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology) from an internationally recognized research university.
Skills & Competencies

Candidates are likely to have proven skills and competencies relevant to many of the duties and responsibilities listed above, although specific training will be provided.

Hepatitis B vaccination may be required and costs covered by Adaptimmune if necessary.
